Traditional must-try Balinese dishes:

Right now, the U.S. (and a few other countries) have Indonesia listed at a Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution, but it’s important to note that this advisory is not specific to Bali. It’s mostly tied to unrest in the Papua region, which is over 1,800 miles away from where we’ll be in Ubud (basically on the other side of the country).
As for Ubud itself:
That said, I understand your question about evacuation back to the U.S. If there were ever a situation that required it, each guest would be responsible for their own flight arrangements, but my team and I will be on-site to coordinate with local contacts, help arrange transportation to Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), and share real-time updates and information. I’m also checking in with my local contacts this week for any updates, and I’ll share more during our Meet & Greet to ensure everyone feels secure and prepared.
Local Emergency Contact: Alongside me, there will be a designated local point of contact from the retreat property team to assist with any emergencies or needs that arise while we’re there. I’ll be sharing their info closer to the retreat.
Hospital Access: The closest medical facility to Soulshine Bali is BIMC Ubud Medical Centre, a modern clinic with English-speaking staff and 24-hour care. It’s located just a 25min drive away in central Ubud. For more advanced needs, Prof. Ngoerah Hospital in Denpasar (about an hour away) offers comprehensive emergency and specialty services.
Yes. I recommend that all U.S. guests register for the STEP program at step.state.gov. This allows the U.S. Embassy to contact you directly in case of local emergencies. Since registration is tied to individual travel plans, each guest should register independently. I’ll include a reminder and direct link in your pre-retreat checklist as well.
Absolutely! The all-inclusive cost includes all accommodation, meals, fitness classes, self-care therapies, and excursions for the week of the retreat. If you’re looking to get around outside of the resort on your free time, either coordinate transportation with the resort front desk or use Bali’s Gojek app (Bali’s version of Uber!).
